How the numbers work

FormLab’s own continuous course-class scale, rebuilt from the last 3 years of GB flat handicaps and refreshed daily after racing. The Course Z-Score is half the average official rating of the horses that run there, half the average prize money (log-scaled) — each expressed as a z-score so the two combine on one footing.

ELITE HIGH MID LOWER — display tiers by score quartile (the coloured rank rail).
